About Nilofar

For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to the face and the stories it tells through expression. As a child born in the 80’s and who grew up in the 90’s, I remember being drawn to iconic faces of the time before I even understood the concept of make-up and identity. My earliest memories of make-up obsession are around age 7 when I had a weird fascination with WWF wresters who wore make-up and face paint as part of their alter-ego personas. And just like any impressionable young girl at that time, I looked up to the supermodels and Hollywood celebrities of that era as benchmarks of beauty, and spent hours flicking through magazines analysing their facial features, trying to decipher what it was that made them so unique and beautiful. As I grew into my early teens, I discovered punk, goth, glam rock and grunge and fell in love HARD - equally as much for the make-up and style as for the music. I owned a black eyeliner pencil, a glossy red lipstick and a couple of very cheap shimmery eyeshadows. With these few products, I tried to recreate the make-up looks of some of my idols - Courtney Love, Siouxsie Sioux, David Bowie. Needless to say, I looked horrendous but this was my first step towards exploring the relationship between identity and make-up, and what it means to be ‘beautiful’…and I have never looked back.

Fast forward to today, I am make-up artist based in London, UK with a career spanning over 13 years, specialising in brand campaigns, commercial, fashion, editorial, music videos and events. My career has taken me all over the world, working with some of the industry’s leading artists and eventually leading fashion and brand campaigns myself.

I am also a global educator, having written and facilitated make-up courses and masterclasses in the UK, Europe, North America and Asia for both beginners and professionals make-up artists.
